Because the tripod attaches almost anywhere I can now use my iPhone as an in car entertainment system for my kid. I just wrap the legs around a head rest or conform it to be secure in a rear cup holder or even just have it securely grasp the center console arm rest. Then I pick a show from Netflix or Youtube and enjoy the lack of crankiness(I run headphones to his car seat).
I really like the option to attach the iPhone mount to a normal tripod, and I have used it to attach a normal compact digital camera to the flexible legs.
Overall this is a very versatile item which I recommend highly!
I have had it for 6 months and one of the legs broke at the top and it wont hold on to stuff very well. I called iStabalizer's Support and they replaced the broken tripod and shipped it for free, no questions asked. Very good customer service!
The camera bracket Clips on easily and holds the phone securely in landscape mode with or without a case. There is a cut out in the ball socket that allows the phone to be set up in portrait mode. The tripod is pretty flexible and will grip in a multitude of ways. I have discovered that to insure there is no jarring of the iPhone when shooting while it's on the tripod, that it is possible to use the volume buttons on the Apple ear pod microphone as a cable release.
I have also found this to be a handy stand for viewing videos; much better than propping my iPhone up against a coffee mug or holding the phone in my hand for an hour.
My only reservation might be that the base of the bracket where it attaches to the standard tripod 1/4"-20 screw is plastic. I expect that as long as the tripod screw is not over-tightened, the bracket will withstand many tripod attachments.
I had a problem with the first one I ordered and the customer service was really excellent. What else can I say? Well, just that this isn't a paid review!
I have a 7.5 oz point and shoot camera and an IPhone 5. Neither camera will remain upright. The ball head tightener wing nut won't tighten enough to stabilize the ball head and the cameras just tip. I can't even think of a way to jerry rig a way around this.
It worked for about 90 days.
Since it's over 3 months, I'm going to have to discard it. The IPhone 5 mount that I got with it works fine.
Very happy with the product so far. The tripod part is small and light so it shouldn't be a problem to carry it around. The holding frame seems to work fine but I am giving it 4 stars only because you still have to be very careful - it's not a dead tight grip, you phone can still slip out and you will drop it. Happened to me and I am glad I had an Otterbox cover on it. The small rubber pad/handle on the top of the frame easily comes off and then the grip can get even worse. You may want to consider gluing it to the frame so you will not lose it.
I was more interested in the frame part of this unit, because I wanted to install it on the L-shaped photo grip I bought on e-bay for a couple of dollars. The converter worked perfectly fine, I hooked up the frame and attached my iPhone to the grip. The shaking of the camera was pretty much gone and I got a very nice and stable video. I will try to add an image of this contraption to the images of the product so you can see what I am talking about.
The bottom line - glad I bought it and I would recommend it to all my friends.

The design is almost flawless. One problem is the removeable rubber traction footing (see that black rubber tab on the top?) keeps falling out. To iStabilizer's credit... Read morePublished 6 months ago by Vince Poscente

With an iPhone 5 it is too top heavy and the lock won't hold it, so it flops over. Not impressed.Published 9 months ago by Daledorm
