This MX Model 13 Gallon Touchless Trashcan equips with enhanced sensor functionality and a wide opening for larger debris. As your hand or debris enter the zone 6 inches from the infrared sensor on top of the trash can, the lid will automatically open. The lid will remain open if debris or hand is within the 6 inches range of the infrared sensor. 3 seconds after your hand moves away from the lid, it closes automatically. At the top front of the lid there are open and close buttons for manual operation, and there is a on/off power switch at the back of the trash can. This MX Model has a wide opening (11.75” diagonal) lid for larger debris, redesigned stronger lid hinge mechanism, air-escape holes for effortless trash bag removal, and carry handle for easy mobility. Fits any regular 13 or 18 gallon trash bag. Comes with bag retainer ring to secure and hide the trash bag inside the trash can.

DON'T BUY "ANYTHING" FROM THIS COMPANY! THEY MAKE DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS,THAT THEY DO NOT BACK! UNLESS---you want to "fork-out" more money to them! And then---I figure you'll get something that will "FAIL"..again;but, you won't know just "when",that that will happen.
This is based on my factual experiences with this product and company---and this "needs" to be posted!
I need a can that would fit against a wall and not prevent the opening of the kitchen door that was perpendicular to the can (when closed). I found that the squarest can is the best solution, and this was the most square with the largest lid opening. Fortunately, it also happens to work. The price from Amazon was far less than any found in retail stores, so this should be a no-brainier.
In addition, there is a "lip" around the bottom, which you can place both feet against, to hold the base down while pulling out the full trash bag. It would be nice if there were a few small "breather holes" in the bottom, to allow air into the bottom when pulling out the full trash bags, but they come out OK. I might drill a couple in it one day after the warranty is out.
Also, you can "press" the trash down in very tight, and really fill up a trash bag well, but still get the bag out, with the trash almost "compressed", if you don't mind pushing it down by hand... haha.
Works great all the time, so far, and we've had it for about two months now.
I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the power adapter with it, if you have a place to plug it in, near the trash can location.
I would get another one, and probably will over time, for other locations in our home.
We got fed up with that situation and did some research on touchless trash cans. This one seemed to be the right one to go with. Good reviews, good quality, the right shape and size.
So, far it has never let us down. It opens when we want it to and doesn't open for not reason or when we walk by. It is quiet and the lid opens and closes quickly. The opening is big enough to put larger items in it, and due to the "touch free" nature, it is much more sanitary. Best part? Our dog hasn't figured out how to open it.
If there are any complains, it doesn't resist smudges and fingerprints very well but you really don't have much of a need to touch it. The best stuff for this and the rest of your stainless stuff in your kitchen is called "Magic Stainless Cleaner" and you can find it here on Amazon.
A couple of helpful hints:
You don't wave your hand in front of it, you hold your hand (or the item you want to throw away) still in front of the sensor for just a moment. It doesn't take long...about a second, but that is long enough for it to do its thing.
We also keep several pieces of newspaper in the bottom to soak up any accidents such as the bag ripping or something sharp poking through it and letting refrigerator gunk leak out.
Once you get one of these, you will get spoiled on the convenience and you will find yourself holding your hand in front of non-touchless trash cans expecting them to open. You feel kinda silly about it but that just reminds you of what a good product this is. :)
