About Aisha Tariqa Abdul Haqq
Aisha Tariqa Abdul Haqq is an Indianapolis, IN, USA native. She has been writing poetry since the age of 10 and has since started a publishing company to publish her own work.
Her first book, Four Years in Chrysalis, is a coming-of-age collection of poems written over the course of four years — detailing grief, loss, heartbreak, and concurrent emotional growth. It ends with a resolve developed due to the necessity of using oneself in the cause of the greater good.
The second book, Acres of Shadow, was written over the course of two years and is purely shared for the benefit of those who currently find themselves struggling with mental health issues and their supporters. Its deepest message is that of saving one's own life whilst in the throes of suicide ideation — the urge to die and the concomitant will to live. It takes the reader on the journey of recovering from illness; and supplies reflection of the past, as well as some arbitrary musings, shared for the contemplation and enjoyment of the reader.
Aisha's interests are those of public policy, education, poetry, music, and fashion, not exactly in that order.
Her life's work is exclusively that of easing the pain of others, in the understanding of the way suffering transcends all human experience. She hopes through the process to add a little light, some respite — and if possible — a touch of growth.
