Then I found mBIT. Grant and Marvin have done an awesome job in researching the underpinning evidence to humans having more than one 'brain' and have set time aside getting that right before opening that new field up to wider discussion and debate. They have spent time modelling their findings to check and revise their work, before offering it out for wider use.
What I have found in this book appears simple - yet is hugely profound. It picks up where NLP left off (in my view), giving NLP a pathway to be even more effective. Like all great research you get that gestalt - that recognition of 'I know this is true' - it makes sense - yet I didn't know how to use it - how to make sense of it - how to use it to take me to a whole new level. This book does that. To be fair - I wanted even greater understanding and experience so have followed the book up with attending the mBIT coach training so that I can really understand it and apply it and am now revisiting the book and reading it again at a whole new level.Read more ›
Oka and Soosalu have taken on a remarkably challenging task and point the way to a profound evolution of this discipline. The task is challenging because of the breadth of science that needs to be considered along with incorporating the best of NLP and Behavioural Modelling as well as the insights from ancient traditions. It is for this that the book gets 5 stars from me.
This praise notwithstanding, there are refinements I hope to see in any subsequent editions. The primary one of those is the inclusion of the references in the book. Much is made of the scientific backing to the claims made in the book. Indeed, if you go to the associated website, a full list of the references is available in a spreadsheet and, indeed, the list includes articles from reputable journals. There are also many references from more popular sources and with some work, you can determine that most of the popular articles are founded on genuine research and peer-reviewed science.Read more ›
Something in my Heart drew me to invest in “mBraining” and you know all of sudden my head began making meaning out of what was missing in my world.
With this book as an inspiration and guide I now have the drive and courage to align my life more fully to aim and ultimately attain my highest level of purpose.
Thank you to co-founders Grant Soosalu and Marvin Oka for your passion and bringing together these wonderful scientific insights and techniques in an easy read format that enables quick reference and readability; this is one book I will read over and over again.
You know?, deep inside I feel this is just the beginning of an amazing journey.
I highly recommend if you’re reading this jump aboard for this amazing ride.
In short, my belief is that the authors are masters of marketing and promotion. Checkout the excellent book "The Business of Belief" by Tom Asacker before buying this. The authors have done a good job at making many people 'believe'. (Lots of 5 star amazon reviews would do that, regardless of who wrote them). Once that's achieved, it's easy for individuals to pick up on plenty of evidence to convince themselves that this stuff is grounded in science (because the authors repeatedly say it is) and will work. Admittedly, once that's achieved, like a placebo, it may well work for you. So I can see some people backing this book because it worked for them.
I'm not totally against the content. I agree we SEEM to 'think with our heart and gut' sometimes. I agree it's helpful when they are aligned. But I'm not sure the idea of sitting still, breathing, then 'smiling' into your saliva that you've collected in your mouth, then filling that saliva with a feeling of passion from your heart, then SWALLOWING it, will really send a message of passion to your gut. In fact, really all you've done is followed a meditation/visualisation whilst spitting inside yourself.
If that last paragraph of mine is the sort of stuff that makes you cringe, save your money and trust your gut. If you like doing that sort of thing, the book is full of similar exercises. If your head says don't buy it, but you want to see if you can change yourself, try filling your saliva with joy and desire and love, then spit inside yourself and see if you end buying. Sorry for the negative review, I just wish I saw one like this to help me determine where to spend my money. All the best to those who believe and get something from it.
