The adapter is only half sized but they include an extender so it fits perfectly. They include 4 screws. Two screws go into the end of the extender on to the mother board.

When you screw down the extender it holds the adapter in place. Without the extender the adapter pops up. Put the other two screws in the holes that line up between the adapter and the extender.

After connecting my second HD to this port it now reads as SATA III 6Gb/s in Intel Rapid Storage.

The screws are extremely small and without a magnetic head driver you'll have some difficulty.

THIS IS ABOUT THE DRIVER SET I USED TO INSTALL NOT THIS ADAPTER

I had this product
Sourcingbay 45 in 1 Precision Screwdriver Tools Set for Rc Pc Mobile Car  Precision Screwdriver Tools Set for Rc Pc Mobile Car which works really well. I had it mounted in less than a minute. There a few shipped by Amazon from different sellers. I got mine from Phileex but they don't seem to sell it anymore.

Make sure you get the good one as there are several sets floating around. It should come with a flexible extension and the bits should have CRV and size clearly stamped and each bit. if you purchase this, purchase it from a seller using Amazon prime and if it's the cheaper set floating around you can send it back without any hassle.

Used for an Intel NUC to avoid using a msata drive and use standard sata drive, It's not recognised by the BIOS.
If I boot on a USB drive, the sata disk is not recognised .
If I start only with the sata drive, sata disk is not recognised.
If I start with a msata drive, no problems.
I have tried many drive (sata and ssd) but the result is the same: not recognised.

It's a piece of plastic that will stay on my desk. Maybe the trash.

This is essentially a passive connector, wires only, that bridges an mSATA port - which is identical in form to a mini PCIe slot, but is not the same - to a 7 pin normal SATA socket.
To clarify, a mini PCIe slot can interface with the functionality of any PCIe device but in a smaller port/form factor size.
An mSATA port looks just like a mini PCIe port, but has all the circuitry embedded to directly interface with a SATA drive, but connection-wise only the kind of SATA drive that has this port form factor. An mSATA port is not designed to interface with any mini PCIe card device, only SATA drives with that port form factor.
I might add, some computers allow you to select in the BIOS, whether that port is going to be an mSATA port or a mini PCIe port.

My new Dell Vostro 470 only had one Sata III slot and the mSATA III slot. This adapter allowed me to utilize the mSATA slot for my Sandisk (Model 830)240gb SATA III solid state drive. The manufacture specs said to expect up to 550 MB/s on seq read. My measurements gave me 489 MB/s. On seq write Sandisk says up to 520 MB/s and mine measured 434 MB/s. Since I am not using a RAID setup, I feel this is quite acceptable. The Dell now boots in 19 seconds. Everything just to snaps up on the screen. I could get accustom to this!

It came with two small screws, but in my setup there is not place to use them. The card seems pretty secure in the slot. Since my machine is a desktop it will probably remain secure. If you use it in a laptop, it might be wise to use the mounting screws.

This was a very good purchase. I works well!

My motherboard has an mSATA attached to the primary SATA controller. Including the mSATA,that's 6 ports. But the mSATA isn't the right kind of connection to attach a regular SATA device, so I'm 1 connector shy of being able to create 2 RAID 5 volumes. With this device, that problem goes away. I removed the mSATA drive, plugged this in, in it's place and viola, I can now plug 6 drives of my choosing, into the controller and create 2 separate RAID 5 arrays. The picture shows a short mSATA PCB, but an extension is included that this adapter screws on to, which allows you to properly screw it down in the longer profile mSATA mount. This adapter is great! I hated having a 32GB mSATA, which is too small to be of any real use as a drive and since I am using SSD drives with faster specs than the mSATA included with my motherboard, the mSATA was also useless as it's intended caching purpose. Which meant for me, a wasted port. With this simple, yet hard to find adapter, no more wasted ports and increased flexibilty/usefulness. Well worth the money.

Was the only way to get access to the 2nd 6GB/s SATA port in my DELL 8500. (It is where the tiny 64GB mSATA drive was and I wanted to replace it with a Terabyte Samsung Evo SSD. Worked like a charm and I get full 6GB/s transfer performance instead of the 3GB/s performance of the other remaining open SATA ports. (My SSD scratch drive is on the other 6GB/s SATA port, so I only use the other ports for the BluRay and 4 TB Storage drives. (This is primarily a photo-editing PC working with 36 megapixel D800 RAW (NEF) photo files, which is why the extra drive speed is important to me.)

I needed to add a SATA III Port to my Dell XPS 8500.
My only option was to convert the existing MSATA port
on its Motherboard. The product arrived and although it fit.
it didn't span the standard pins that existed on the MB
(Dell's setup was for a standard sized board mounted SSD Drive)
I contacted MicroSATA Cables and they promptly sent me an extender kit
gratis. They are now doing this automatically for all future orders.
What a great vendor to work with ... Buy with confidence!
