About maiaruna
Maiaruna is the author of Letters to Lovers Lost and Letters to Sylvia, two intertwined poetry collections exposing the pits and falls of womanhood and sisterhood, love and loss, tenderness and violence, in bodily experience.
In 2019 she wrote When I, My Own Daughter, a separate dialogue between a dead mother and her abandoned child connected through the mother’s diary, a narrative exploring the origins of contempt and regrets stemming from their father’s existence.
Maia is drawn to strange and unusual settings and circumstances. She hopes to write about them with compassion and empathy.

Letters to Sylvia is personal, hence political. A collection of poems on womanhood and self-redefinition carved in bodily experience, affirming existential connection between the mind and the carnal. Letters to Sylvia is celebrating women by challenging internalised patriarchal culture and at the same time, toying with its ideas of femininity and its complexity. This book is an invitation to all who identify as women to write their body as the site to their narratives.
