I bought this car seat as a gift for my brother in the US (I'd seen it on Indiegogo and thought it was a really clever idea). They got it last week when I was visiting and this is what they told me - "this is just about the smartest thing you could have got us." They have two kids aged 8 and 6 and they car share a lot to take their kids to school. That's why I thought it would be good for them. And also because when I'm staying with them, I can't fit in the back of the car with their two kids and their old car seats!
Now I've seen it and tried it out I really think it's great. And so do they. It's just so small but it seems to work well. It's about the size of large paperback book that folds out to create a flat seat about a quarter of an inch thick. It has guides on the sides that hold the seat belt in the right position over the hips and a strap that goes up the back of the child to hold it in place over the shoulder. Other reviewers have said it's not that comfortable. However that's not our experience at all. I was worried my niece would find it hard to sit on as although there's some padding on it, it's not especially soft. But she doesn't have a problem with it. It seems to sink into the seat a little so is quite comfortable for her.
It's different to a normal car seat and so it does take some getting used to (how to clip the belt in, how to set it up). But once you get it, it's fine. of course the kids seem to get it faster than the adults!
I was pleasantly surprised by how heavy it is. It's more than just a little piece of plastic and it does seem to be high quality.
But it's the size that makes it so different. The mifold website says you can fit three in a row in the back of a normal car and I can see that happening. It really is that small. As an adult I can fit in the back with the two kids really easily too. And my brother will store it in the pocket of the driver seat when not using it - no big clumsy polystyrene seats cluttering up the car (he's a bit of a neat freak).
It's not perfect however. The red belt guides need to be released with a little lever to pull them out but are pushed back in too easily. This should be changed as the position of the belt can move as a result (although not so it affects the child). And the instruction manual has its own little slot (which is great to have always to hand) but it's not so easy to get it in or out. But these are minor issues really.
It's called portable and it really is. It will fit into a handbag or kids back pack really easily and you can take it anywhere. It's just a great concept and a a great product.
The best review comes from my 6 year old niece who says she loves it. She says she feels like a big girl now! She will take it with her to school in her bag so she's always got a car seat when she's taken home by someone else. And she'll use it too, which I guess is the whole point. When will this be available on UK Amazon???

Side belt holders don't stay open, they slide back in and makes impossible to un-buckle after that. Also not safe according to the manual. Side wings should be open to hold the belt in the correct position and they are not.

Bought these for my older boys so if we ever have another passenger they can all fit in the back row of our suburban. These are very compact and a lot of people ask me if they really are safe since it is such a tiny seat. My kids need help still getting it buckled properly. If you follow the directions they won't be able to move very much since the lap belt goes over their thighs and locks in with the clips. I don't see them getting out of the belt if we were to get into an accident and I like how small and light they are for when we switch vehicles.

I recently bought a convertible and both my daughter's high back booster and regular booster elevated her too high for my comfort level to ride in the car. The mifold is perfect for the convertible because it allows her whole body to be restrained below the head rest of the seat which makes me feel so much more comfortable having her right. She can strap herself in and out by herself and stays comfortably seated with her back against the seat. This is perfect. We also travel quite a lot and this makes it so easy to put in ubers, taxis, and rental cars. Plane travel is a breeze as well. I can put this in a carry on and we're good to go. I still have 2 high back boosters and one regular booster, the high backs are also 5 pt harnesses so for long drives where she might fall asleep she's seated in one of those, but this seat definitely has a spot in our rotation and I'm very pleased with it. I will buy another to have in the car for friends.

Brilliant invention. It packs up about the size of a clutch purse, and is very light weight. I've hauled giant heavy car seats through airports, even strapped one to a dolly and pulled my child in it as a stroller. Oh the craziness! This would have been so much better. I keep thinking of all the places we could have used it...taxis, airplanes, airport shuttles, field trips, play dates, etc. We used it this week to put two extra kids in the back of my SUV, and it was much easier since the mifold sits against the seat and the seatbelt buckles don't get lost under it the way they do with a booster. It definitely saved my knuckles skin from being sheared off reaching between boosters to find buckles. It also seems safer than a floating booster seat. I have a friend who's five year old flew out of one of those in a roll over crash and it has made me nervous ever since to the point of keeping my seven year old in the high back booster until this came along. Anyway, I highly recommend. Wish I thought to invent this myself.

So I bought the green mifold and my daughter loves it! The only issue I've got is the red adjusters on the side don't stay where I adjust them to, I have a Honda pilot and she sits in the very back seat and she doesn't have an issue with her legs not bending and if you don't know the back seat is a tight fit in a pilot I'm not sure why other people give this such terrible reviews but it's greet for us and she can do it herself ive had to show her how to do it three first few days but she got it figured out! My youngest will be in one very soon he's only 3 and has sat in it 1 time and loves it! But he's as big as a 5 year old so it for very well!! But I'll be buying 2 more soon

We were doing a bit of travel around Hawaii that involved island hopping and we were trying to avoid the excess baggage of a full-sized booster seat to take on the plane. For this purpose it worked perfectly. The mifold fits neatly in a backpack when folded up and it's very lite. It would also be great for people who don't own a car and frequently used taxis, ride-share, or car share services.

I have one criticism of the design: the strap that attaches to the shoulder part of the belt is quite fiddly. I also think that it has a weak spot that would break after many uses.

We were excited to receive this as we are about to embark on a mission and needed a car seat that can travel and not be bulky. It is compact, the color is true. We bought it for our soon to be 4 yr old son,the side red belt holder do not click into place and they slide which causes the padding to slide. We then thought about returningredients for being difficult to manage. Then our kindergartner seat on it and worked great for her (she weighs 5 lbs less then our 3.5 yr old) thinking maybe to recommend this to kids who will stay in place with the carseat.

I like this product. Its small and portable, and it makes sense. My main issue was that the side mechanism to hold the seatbelts down to a correct position would easily close, it does not lock in place. Customer service says it's for storing quickly but it is safe. I do not understand why a moving piece is considered safe to use, especially with a seatbelt that has the intention of pulling in ( which is the free flowing direction of the mi-fold). I struggled several times with having to extend the lap holders on several occasions that it made me not want to use the item. Apparently their is a new design that locks the side strap holders in place. Problem solved, but customer service will not help me fix my 1st generation obvious design flaw. Why else would the second generation be all thesame except for the non-locking feature? I know 1st hand because my brother in law bought it recently. Anyways, just be aware of buying on-line and receiving the defective 1st batch of semi-defective design flaw, not very helpful customer service who only want profit and not safety.

I asolutly love it
my 6 year old grandson is not as exited also was.hes too low now and can't see out at all.
and kids are making fun of it.
I bought him the standar booster (which I don't trust a such as I do the Mii-old.

I feel the safety in the mifold exceeds that of higher booster that feel like they're floating in the seat. And I am distressed that he can unbuckle himself snd pop out of his seat. He couldn't do that with the mifold...just what we should want as parents.
I'm going to buy another one, for my daughter to have as an extra seat for friends.
