Bought this mophie case in March of 2015. It's now July 19th and the mophie battery decided to malfunction and started melting. Amazon is not allowing me to send this case back for warranty replacement after only 4 months of use. I will not recommend this product to anybody. Buyer beware.

Adds one pinky width of length to bottom of phone, and a noticeable amount of thickness, but not enough to make it clumsy in a shirt or pant pocket. Increase in weight is noticeable, but not enough to change how i hold, use, or do anything with the phone at all. It makes me glad I chose the helium (thinnest, lightest) over the other options, though. especially since the increase in battery life from iphone alone to iphone+helium is a huge jump, whereas the other bigger mophie cases have diminishing returns for the extra size. the grippiness/slipperiness factor of the outside of the case mattered to me, since I will be constantly pulling it out of pockets, like jean pockets. sticky cases drag the pocket out. You know what I mean if you've had one. but with slippery cases, people complain they slip and slide and fall out of hands or off of surfaces. the texture of the back of this case is an interesting middle ground. enough to hold onto a flat surface at a slant and not slide down/off. but it is definitely plasticy and not rubbery. Works as advertised, very easy to put on the phone, easy to switch charge mode on/off.

Single most important drawback: USES MICRO USB AND NOT IPHONE LIGHTNING CABLE. the lightning cable is blocked, used by the case. only available port is now the micro usb. this port charges, but does not transfer data. what does this mean? you plug your case into your computer. it charges, but the computer does not recognize it, or offer sync or data transfer. is that annoying? for me, yes. I transfer photos/videos from phone to computer regularly via cable, and have nice 10ft lightning cables for charging. So now i can either sync/transfer data via wifi or take the case off to use the cable. not the end of the world, but lightning cable was better. now it's almost useless. Is it difficult to take off the case to access the lightning port on the phone? not really, but yes it is bothersome enough for something you do constantly. that's the only reason I take away one star.

Product is okay. It worked great for the first 2 weeks after I received it, and then it got to the point where it would only continuously charge the phone if it was connected to the charging cable, but otherwise when you have the case alone charging the phone, it stops charging with any slight movement of the top and bottom pieces. I contacted Mophie and provided them the details of my claim, so they told me to send the case in so that they could see if it really was broken and then they would decide whether or not to give me a new replacement or send it back to me - for which I'd have to pay. Given that this was $20 and I have no other cases to put my phone in meanwhile I ship my case to them and wait for one, I haven't sent it in to Mophie yet just because I feel that it is too much of a hassle to go through without any reassurance that I will get a working product. To compare this process to that of other companies - Keurig sent me a brand new replacement coffee maker when my old one stopped working; no need to give them any information besides the serial number and the box came with an envelope to send back the cup from the old coffee maker. Additionally I also had a FitBit band which started to peel around the screen and they immediately sent me a new replacement via mail without having to send back the original band. Now, given that this item is priced much less than the examples I gave, I understand why they are less inclined to send out a new replacement, but they could learn from other companies to keep the customer satisfied when their product it clearly not doing its intended function by making the warranty process easier - a tip being sending out a new replacement and then asking for the old one back afterwards and if the customer doesn't return it, then you can invoice him/her.

If you have limited expectations then you might not be disappointed. After a year of use I can relay that in a field of essentially miserable products this one performs ok if you understand what you are buying. This product WILL NOT charge your battery to 100% and you will be required to fully charge the case overnight as the charge to 4 lights takes at least 5 hours. Additionally, its probably the case that the mophie will be only be able to go through about 150 to 200 full recharge cycles before it ceases working. I have 3 and this is the case with 2 of them so far. The good news that if this happens inside a year you can get a new one from the company as its still under warranty. The reason this product will only charge your phone to about 50% is that the charging battery capacity is 1500 mAh while the IPHONE 5S battery capacity is 1900 mAh. Well 1500/1900 = 79%. However it is not physically possible to efficiently transfer the entire 1500 mAh from the case battery to the iphone without significant loss of power. After taking account of the various ways in which the transfer energy is lost through heat etc., the Iphone only ends up about 50% charged which while not as advertised is certainly a life saver if you phone is dying and need some juice without access to a charger. So if you understand what you are buying and can do a little research to get the inaccurate company claims out of the equation, you may end up with something that accomplishes part of what you are looking for or close to all if your expectations are tapered.

This case is available in a number of different colours. In the box is the case, headphone jack extender and micro usb cable (for charging).

The case simply snaps together around the iPhone, as it has a top and bottom section. It has speaker grilles on the bottom section front to help amplify the iPhone's speakers. A headphone jack extender is also provided, as the case is too deep for headphones to fit into the headphone socket. On the back is 4 less which help indicate the battery percentage and a switch which can be used to turn the battery case on & off. The case has cutouts for the lock, volume and silent buttons. It is charged through a micro-usb port on the bottom, it can be charged while the iPhone is inside and will charge the iPhone first before charging the case. It provides a 80% charge for your phone. It adds some thickness to your phone and length, but not too much.

It's lasted me a long time and the case comes with the 3.5mm headphone jack extender so you can still plug in 3rd party headphones/earphones which is a nice touch, the case is still charging fine after almost a year however the cable has never been securely in place and is extremely unstable and can easily be knocked out but once it is in place just leave it an it'll charge.

It charges your phone from 1% to 80% easily (as long as you're not using it while it is charging) so it is good for anyone who runs out of battery while they're out however this case is thick and I'd recommend getting a power bank instead because you get more charges for your money

I have bought 2 different mophie cases that were supposedly the same but were not. Beware, it seems there are multiple models!!!!

This one (the dark colored one on the left) has been working perfectly for the last month. Except for being a battery case it is also a good way to rid yourself of lightning. You will see in the picture that at the bottom it is different and the iphone snags in there more tightly due to rounded corners.

The other case I bought (the light gray one) listed @ https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BS99NG4/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 , does not work perfectly as it seems to be a slightly different model that doesn't make good contact with the lightning slot. Your therefore need to squeeze the base and the top together a lot of the time and it stops giving power at a moment's notice. I was ready to send it back because on the first day I ran out of power and was without my phone @ the beach.
My solution was to add some paper within the case in order to push the iphone downwards towards the lightning jack and it seems to work but it's a shame!

Ask which model their selling.

After using it for over a week It now feels natural to have this case on! The size and weight for me personally have never been an issue I would happily have the extended battery life instead! and this is one of the best battery cases i have ever used for any of the iphones. I decided to purchase this one instead of countless other available on the market as this is a MFI (Made For Iphone) product. Therefore there are no comparability issues with this product. The design is where this product trumps all the rest in the market currently. It feels naturally fit for the 5/5s and although it does adds to the length from the bottom but you will quickly get used to it, infact it feels great to hold now and type messages if you have bigger hands.
