Can't Even Tell It's There, Installed Well First Try

I got the 3pack of Invisible covers for my new iPad. I was worried after reading a lot of reviews that my retina display would be diminished by the presence of a protector. I was also concerned about the "feel" on the fingers and responsiveness. On all three accounts, this cover gets 5 stars. You can't tell it's on, and there is no difference between the feel and the responsiveness of the touch screen.

After reading so many installation horror stories, I recruited my husband to help me. Here were our steps to a very smooth install:
1) Clean the iPad glass with an ammonia- & alcohol-free screen cleaner and a micofiber cloth. I use this on all my electronics and touch screen devices. This is good for getting rid of finger prints and smudges.

2) "dust" the screen with the included lens cleaning cloth. The cloth that comes with the screen covers is similar to what Apple used to include with the iPod touch years ago.

3) peel off about a quarter or a third of the first cover of the screen, line up the screen with the home button, and then slowly lay it down as you peel away the cover. Try to smooth out the really big bubbles as you go.

4) Before you peel off the second cover, use the little card to smooth all the bubbles out. If you have dust, peel back the screen and use the sticker to grab them. I found that the dust usually stuck to the screen cover. This is also when it's useful to have a helper. My husband held the screen protector while I stickered the dust.

5) Peel off the second cover slowly. This will create some more bubbles b/c the adhesive pulls the screen protector away from the ipad a bit. To get these bubbles out, wrap the lens cloth around the little card and then smooth out the bubbles. If you use the card without the cloth, you'll likely scratch the cover.

6) I had to clean the screen again with the screen cleaner b/c i had such crazy finger smudges from smoothing out bubbles.

We were able to install in one go in probably about five minutes all told. We have a dog, so we did it at the kitchen table where there would be less dog hair and a lot of light to see.

We are quite happy with the result! I only give this a 4 star rating b/c I haven't had a chance to see how well the screen protector holds up over time. But so far, so great.

I've bought this product as well as a higher end iPad screen protectors and I don't really see the difference other than the shipping/marketing packaging. These work good, work just as well as the pricier rivals (MediaDevil Magic Screen Protector: Crystal Clear) . I can't say they go on any better or worse. In fact I feel like if someone handed me this pricier product along with the cheaper one and i put it on my iPad and used it - I wouldn't notice the difference in the two through the process.

NOTE: I do use the Clear - I see several people complain about the muddled view of the anit-finger print (for all vendors and brands). I hope consumers figure it out soon, the complaint is very old. Please KNOW that the nature of anti-finger print, regardless of the brand or quality will give a muddled view. Complaining about anti-finger print giving a fuzzy view is like complaining that you tinted the windows in your car and now it's not as bright in the vehicle

Three needed to get one

This is my second set of screens. It took all three the first time to get one without a lot of dust motes. I followed the instructions to the letter but I got fingerprints on the first one, the second got worse each time I tried to get the dust off, but I was able to get the third one one with just a few dust motes only around the edges. I've lived with it for two years, cutting off a corner that kept peeling up. When we got a second iPad, I got another set. Now an "expert" with these, it still took two tries before I got one to work. Since I had one left, and my current one was all scratched up, I decided to replace it. Bad idea. Once again, I got a few dust motes due to the extreme static electricity that is created when you pull cover sheet 1 off. Again, the more I worked to get them off, the more appeared under the cover. I now have about 15 in the main screen. I'm on my way to Fry's to buy a different brand (no matter the cost). If you are lucky, once you get it on it works quite well. But it will probably take all three before you do that. I wish you well should you decide to go ahead and buy the myGear protector.

Great product! After applying, cannot tell it is there-even with the outer layer not having been peeled off (forgot to remove it). The price is more than worth what you get.

Ok these are not Zagg invisible shields no doubt. They are a lot cheaper though so don't expect Zagg quality going in. That being said there is absolutely nothing wrong with these protectors. They are relatively easy to apply with some patience (complete with squeege and cloth for pre-dusting if necessary). There is some slight rainbowing when the device is off but that isn't noticed while using the device. I have the iPad4 with Retina and the screen is still just as glorious as it would be without it or with an invisible shield. Who cares if it doesn't have a perfect look when off, how does that matter? Three for this price is an absolute steal. I will admit that I did loose one to the application process since I am a perfectionist (the key is to not touch the side of the film being applied to the device (the side you expose when you peel step 1)). Take your time and squeege the bubbles out and it'll look great plus you will save a good bit of money!
