Do you need to buy an HDMI cable to stream HD movies if your flat screen is just LCD not HD?

Yes, you need an HDMI cable to stream HD movies. Any other cord will down-convert the signal.

Also, are you sure your television isn't HD? Most if not all flat panel televisions made in recent years are capable of displaying HD resolution. By the way, LCD isn't a resolution, it's a type of display. Flat screen HD televisions may be LCD, LED, Plasma, or occasionally DLP.
