Complete with the "tags" at the end (useful for keyword searching, but less useful in a printed book) and former hyperlinks still evident "like this page", this short book has all the usual arguments and factoids you'd find online, and not a heck of a lot more. It makes the argument for a coming ice age, but not particularly effectively - it's more like a scattered notebook than a coherent, unified argument, although the author is fond of proclaiming his awesomeness at building a case, having been an attorney. Most of the absent links are given as endnotes. As far as "how to survive and prosper during the next 50 difficult years," try Cold Times instead. Far more useful information in that book.

This is a fascinating and ground breaking book. If you read this book with an open, adaptable mind you will likely find yourself in agreement with the principle scientific tenants presented with such detailed empirical references. This book reminds the reader, that you as an individual have the ability to prosper and survive during this new mini ice age .The illustration on page 44 says it all. The smart and adaptable will move to these “safe zones", gaining temporary exemption from the “New Little Ice Age” which now ravages the bulk of the North American land mass, each year more intense than the last. Finally, cogent practical advice is provided in the Appendix titled: “Back to the Land”. This book signals the start of many books to come on this subject. Lawrence Pierce’s seminal book is similar in spirit to the detailed research approach taken in the acclaimed 2014 book: “The Big Fat Surprise” by Nina Teicholz. I highly recommend Mr. Pierce’s ground breaking book.

The amount of research and "further reading" in this relatively thin book will not just "get you started" but - if you are so inclined - provide you with information to read (and watch, if that is your preference) for at least a year.
All claims in this book are not only provable, but proven, and the author encourages you to check it for yourself.
This book will not help you "awaken" your brainwashed friends, but it may help you talk to your family who probably have some inherent trust in you.
The practical advice in this book is somewhat rudimentary for anyone who has been researching disaster preparedness, but the introductory/factual part is so darn good that I would still give this book 6 stars if I could.

This book could quite convince you that global warming is a farce and that we should, instead be preparing for an ice age that might last several decades. The information cited sounds quite convincing but unfortunately none of it is backed up by actual references from scientists or scientific publications. There are plenty of references from past events such as is occurring now, books by other authors who hold the same belief as Mr. Pierce, and even statements that some scientists believe our planet is no longer warming but no scientific proof of this or an impending ice age. While the possibility of a new little ice age should probably not be dismissed out of hand, it seems unlikely

Political book to counter Global Warming theory.
Not a real book by an honest author.

While Mr. Pierce has an excellent YouTube video that covers much of this material, there's nothing like the book, and also the voluminous information about raising edible food and post-Armageddon ideas.....really essential along with "The Neglected Sun."

I think the author is on the right line and that the world is going into a cooling period in the next 2 decades. The means of coping with this time are reasonable but too deta to detailed to keep the reader interest to the end .

The last part of the book takes you through what you will need to survive, great preppers guide. The first part goes through the real science of climate and the truth the media and government won't tell. Highly recommended.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 3, 2016Verified Purchase
This is a book of two parts. The good part sets out a sound case that our climate is almost entirely controlled by cyclical changes in the sun's activity, and on this basis we are probably due for a fifty-year cold spell. In comparison the activities of mankind on climate are insignificant.
Unfortunately, the second half of the book describes recent localised weather events as evidence that the predicted cold spell has already started. Such anecdotal evidence is more typical some "warmist" propaganda. I suppose you could say that it is a case of tit-for-tat; if one side of the argument can cite such incidents as evidence, Pierce can find as many examples to support his case.
However, overal, this book shows the futility of wasting billions on decarbonisation of our energy industry.

Hot or Cold or Lukewarm?
Reviewed in Canada on April 14, 2020Verified Purchase
Even with some of the colder-than-usual winters these past few years we keep hearing that the world is supposedly heating up. This book does much to counter the constant hot house propaganda. Apparently we are getting colder. One sign of colder weather is pandemics, and this book was written well before the current pandemic. Easy to read, and easy to understand.
