Originally, it seemed like I'd have to replace many of the seals to get back some approximation of waterproofing, but after turning up a few references to Gummi Pflege on the forums I decided to give it a shot. In short, this is a <$10 bottle of chemical magic. It took all of about 40 minutes to treat the numerous weather seals, giving each a few applications as the rubber soaked it up, and the difference is substantial. The seals are now pliable, darker and have regained much of their original size. I'd highly recommend this to anyone considering replacing their weather stripping since it's a fraction of the cost and provides much the same benefit.
As a weird off-label application, I accidentally got some on my plastic door handle, which had started to fade a little with weathering. Oddly enough, it seemed to take and the plastic now looks like new. Definitely not one of the indications, but something which may be worth noting.
1. Don't follow the instructions. Instructions tell you to wipe on and let dry, then reapply as necessary. I didn't like the way it looked.
2. Instead, wipe on a good coat first and as it is drying, start applying a second coat. While the second coat is still wet, use a lint free/micro fiber cloth and really work it into the seal. You will get a lot of black stuff on your rag. Repeat this until you get a real uniform coat and the seal has a nice even finish. Then let it dry.
3. Make sure you press the applicator down onto a rag while slightly squeezing the bottle to really get the tip wet. This seems to work better once the tip is really saturated. Unless you do this while its not on the window seal, it takes many passes to get the whole thing saturated.
4. When you work in the liquid, try and use clean parts of the cloth each time.
However, be careful when applying it! As I was going around one of the corners of my rear door's trim, the sponge applicator got caught on the hinge, popping the cap right off the bottle (with very little force). About half of the liquid spilled onto my beige floor mat. I immediately soaked up the liquid and rinsed the mat as best as I could. However, about a week later I noticed that the fabric trim on the edges of the floor mat became bleached and discolored where the liquid came in contact with it. I can't hold this against the product, because it was my own fault for not being careful enough. Just a warning to anyone who may use it in the future..
We've used this on almost all of our vehicles including a 98 Dodge Neon, 98 BMW Z3, 02 Accord, and a 00 Civic. A little of this product goes a very long way so I think a bottle should be sufficient for most people to last a number of applications to their car(s). I about 2/3rds of the "pflege" remaining in my bottle.
The one thing that I would warn against is that if you apply too much of this liquid and it get runny, you'll have black runny drips getting on things around it so don't get too carried away. I recommend doing multiple light coverages, and I'm willing to bet it's easier than if you're constantly wiping away a bunch of excess.

Very easy to use and is very effective in conditioning the weather stripping on my car. I drive a convertible and the rubber between my hardtop and body would squeak. Read morePublished 25 days ago by J. R. Herrera
