Update: 9 Feb 18. I still hate this chair! It is STILL as hard as a rock and has not changed any from the first time I sat in it. NOW it's developed a very loud and annoying creaking everytime I move. I'm not sure what the problem is but this chair is noisy. Just barely turning sideways makes a lot of racket. Just one more thing to go wrong with this chair. I'll still need to use it because I can't afford to replace such an expensive chair with something else, and believe me, I will eventually replace this chair with anything else. Don't buy this chair unless you want to sit on concrete and hear screeching noise every time you move!
Update: 11 Dec 18. Three months with this chair and I HATE it! The seat is still so hard I think I dread every day I have to sit in it! I am retired so I sut in front of my home computer a lot, but this chair isn’t comfortable after an hour or less and then I have to stand up. I don’t understand making a seat so dang hard. I sank too much money into this thing so I guess I’m stuck with it and that’s a pain too! Anybody who things it gets softer with use is going to be disappointed and sore!
Update: 19 Oct 18. I have had this chair for exactly one month. I am 5' 11 and 290 lbs. This chair was designed for guys like me and even bigger guys. It does fit me very well. My head come right up to the headrest pillow giving me great support. The built in lumbar is just perfect. I can adjust it to feel great as necessary each day if I want. Sometimes I want a real straight sitting, other times I don't want the push in my back. The nob makes it easy to adjust. Same with the height and rocking adjustment paddles. Usually, once these are set for you size, they won't move again.
Initial Review: Putting together the chair was relatively painless although they could do a better job of explaining where the bolts actually come from. One arm of the chair was detached, but the bolts were in the chair. We some how got the chair bottom bolts mixed up with the chair arm bolts, but eventually figured it out. It took my wife and I about an hour to put together and we're both in our 70's.
Now about the comfort. After one month, I can only tolerate this chair for about four hours or less. The seat is extremely hard and I mean hard. My backside is very tender after sitting in this chair for more than four hours at a time. Yeah, that's a long time to sit any where, but the chair is in my study in front of my iMac and my TV. I'm either coding something, playing a game or watching football and don't pay much attention to the time, but when I do get up, I can feel the soreness in my tail-bone. It isn't pleasant. I did ask Noble Chairs about the hardness of the seat and they said it would lessen over time. That may be true, but after one month it certainly isn't my favorite chair to sit in, but it's the only one I have for now, so I guess I'll keep trying to break it in. Still, if you're looking for a big and tall chair that is comfortable at the start, look elsewhere. This one is like sitting on a concrete wall all day!
P.S. I almost forgot to mention that if you sit in the chair in blue jeans, don't plan on moving around. It feels like your jeans are stuck to the seat and you can't move or wiggle at all. Some might like this, but it's hard to move to a more comfortable position since you have to stand completely up to move in this chair. I don't know about other pant material since all I ever wear is blue jeans.
I read A LOT of reviews before making the jump, and here's my thoughts:
+ The packaging of all the parts, even the screws, is great. You can easily tell a lot of thought and care went into it.
+ The stitching is great, and it's tasteful.
+ Speaking of tasteful, this whole chair is tasteful. It doesn't scream "gamer" like some others do.
+ The faux leather feels and looks high quality.
+ The back support really works, although I was dubious at first. My lower back does feel supported, and it's adjustable.
+ The pillows are super soft, but I only use the neck/head pillow since the chair has built in lumbar support.
+ The base, hydraulic lift, and tilting mechanism are all high quality. No squeaking, and they look fantastic.
+ I know most people don't care about the underside of a chair, but the bottom of the seat is very well done. No gaps like other chairs, and the mounting plate on the seat is solid.
+/- The chair does start firm, but you definitely feel supported. Mine broke in after about a week-ish. YMMV.
+/- Being able to fully adjust the arm rests in nice, but to be honest, I adjusted them once and haven't moved them since. Again, YMMV, but worth mentioning, I think.
Let's talk about some negatives, they're small but there:
- Arm rests wiggle, but I think you'll find most chairs with similar arm rests will.
- On the topic of arm rests, they're not soft. I got separate soft covers for mine.
That's it really, I can't think of anything else to mention.
On to some general stuff/my experience with the support team:
The chair is much easier to build with two people, but one person can definitely manage, as I did.
The support team is top notch. Originally, I received a chair with a backrest that had uneven mounting holes, so the chair had a gap between the seat and backrest. On top of this, since one side mounted higher, the chair support was uneven. I contacted support the day of receiving it, including pictures and a description of the problem, and a day later they had responded to me with possible solutions. After trying their solutions to no avail, and providing more in-depth pictures with measurements to ensure a replacement backrest would fix my issue, they confirmed an RMA on the backrest, and I had a replacement on my doorstep about a week later. Excellent service, and it fixed my problem completely.
I figure most people won't even have to contact support, as the overall quality of the chair is outstanding, and an issue would seemingly be rare. However, maybe my experience would at least reassure those worried about potential problems with replacement parts.
And that's it! Overall, I love the chair, and I'll love using it for my office, as well as for flight sims. It's an easy 5/5 for me.
Assembly took about 25 minutes for me. All the fasteners feel high quality and everything arrived without any issues. One of the arms is detached. which as I understand is so they could fit this chair in the same sized box as their other chairs (the Epic and the Icon) but all the bolts are left in place so there's a low chance of mixing things up. My only complaint is the arm rests, while comfy, feel a little wobbly
Chair is firm but pleasant, and after using it for a few hours at a time I'm not in pain or have a tingling feeling after standing up. As per other "gaming" chairs this one comes with an incredibly soft head pillow and a little lumbar pillow as well. I see next to no use for the lumbar pillow, since this chair has lumbar support and all, but it's nice that they added it anyways. The head pillow on the other hand is unbelievably comfy, especially if you're trying to keep a straight posture for a few hours at a time.
I mostly bought this chair for the gaming style look, but I like that it's subdued in comparison to the full on racing style design; still has a cool look, but doesn't look like an 8 year old designed it. The gold accents on mine look nice and clean without being excessive, and I appreciate the minimal branding on the chair. This chair looks good, feels good, and seems to be well worth the price I paid for it
