- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2014On edged all through this book that I finished in 2 days could have in one day if I wasn't attending an expo. Sidney Sheldon never cease to amaze, entertain and grip your curiosity with each turning page. A must read !!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2012This is my first experience with Sidney Sheldon's works. I realized going in that there needed to be some flexibility in my thinking at the outset, knowing this was his first too.;)
I'm glad to have experienced this. The language was definitely dated but I found that to be really interesting in and of itself. It reminds one honestly of the stigma and societal thought processes of the times (ahem...it'll make ya compare it to current day thinking and whether or not we've progressed much in 42 years.;)
I did find the story a bit predictable and did guess pretty early on who was, at the very least, involved in the bad side of things but over all...I did enjoy this read. It moved along quickly and kept me turning pages enthusiastically. Which I do believe was, understandably, Mr. Sheldon's primary goal in his writing.;)
I wasn't sure exactly what to think of the ending on this. It was rather abrupt and had me piecing together what happened after the story ended. I'm hoping I was wrong but last I recall...someone was left alone in the presence of someone rather diabolical, unbeknownst to someone else. Yep....hope I was wrong.;)
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2021Dr. Judd Stevens is a psychoanalyst. One winter day, he loaned his yellow rain slicker to a patient. Within minutes of leaving Dr. Stevens's office, the patient is murdered on a busy street. Then, as his receptionist is closing up the office for the day, she is tortured and murdered.
As Dr. Stevens is crossing the street, a car tries to run him down. He is now convinced that someone is trying to kill him. The police detective on the case does not believe him and suspects that Dr. Stevens is responsible for the murders.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2022I have read so many novels by Sheldon, and I wanted to read his first. If you already know him and the way he describes his stories, this one won't disappoint you! And if it is your first time, The Naked Face won't disappoint you either! Wants to make you keep reading the next chapter! I love Sheldon! The best.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2022The plot is twisted, and unexpected. The Characters have their own person traits. You can find paranoiac, nymphomania, megalomania and homosexual in this book everywhere. When you are reading this book , you are goona keep your mind sharp. You never know what is goona happen and who is the real murderer. If you like suspenseful, mysterious story, I recommend this book.
