- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2023I recently stumbled across these "toon books," simple comic style books for young readers. I bought the hardcover version. It was packed in a clear bag, then a padded envelope - extra safe. The art style is easy to follow and the simple story brought a smile to my first grader's face. 12 year old liked the book too, even though "it's for babies." I will continue to purchase toon books
- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2015I know that Jeff Smith is a cartoon guy but he can certainly right a darn good children's book too. We know where to find the Little Mouse story free to read on the Internet but I thought it was worth it to buy the physical book and have my grandson read it to me (easy reading for him now at six years old) and hopefully also read it to his 2 1/2-year-old sister. That is the plan! At 60 years old, I still enjoy this story; just wish I had the talent to write one as good. I "heartily" recommend this excellent children's book— very engaging and creative.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2016Our 6 yo daughter was more willing to read this than regular books. She appreciated the cute pictures and funny ending, as did her parents. If your child likes cute little anthropomorphic animals, they would probably like this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2011It's time to go to the barn, but before Little Mouse can go he's got to get ready. First the underpants, then socks and pants, next are shoes, and last is the shirt. With button holes, zippers and velcro Little Mouse can only go so quickly. Just in the nick of time he's able to finish up and make his way to the barn with his Momma. Only there's a little catch...do mice wear clothes?
Littlebug and Turkeybird are right, we've been reading this very cute comic nearly every for a couple weeks now and off & on for some time before that as well. It's an incredibly cute way to help little ones figure out just how to get all those clothes on and get them feeling great about their achievements. For Littlebug, it's suddenly spurred a new desire to do everything herself. Not only does she want to pick out the clothes she wears and dress herself, but nearly everything else she does she doesn't want help with. It's pretty funny most of the time and she almost always ends up with help from mom or dad, but it's neat to see her growth. And I absolutely love that it got started by reading a book.
Little Mouse Gets Ready is perfect for young kiddos just learning how to do the basics. Not only will this spur a desire for more independence, but it will also help them strive to try harder. Little Mouse isn't always able to accomplish his tasks right away and the harder he tries the more likely he is to get it. It's something important for us all to learn, the famous quote, "If at first you don't succeed than try try again." We've struggled with helping her see that sometimes it's okay to ask for help because of this, but that's also part of growing up and I know she'll learn as she goes. A wonderful book, especially for those comic book fans, with a fantastic way to show little ones just how to get ready to go out!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2014This is a wonderful book! I saw it in a comic book store years ago and never forgot it. Now that my dearest friend has a baby daughter, and her "uncle" wants to spoil her, I remembered this book and found it on Amazon. The book's size and format are perfect for little hands and the illustrations are beautiful. I can never look through this book without smiling. It is quite a little treasure. Hope my "niece" thinks so, too!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2017My 3 year old and I love this story/comic! So cute and just the right length. My son immediately wanted to play like he was the mouse and practice getting ready. How could a mom not love that!?
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2015The description says this book is appropriate for kids up to 8 years old. I bought it for a 6 year old and I think it is a little too young for her. It would be a nice book for a 3, 4 or young 5 year old.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2014Such a precious story! Such an appealing character! What charm in this little book. Aww!!!
My favorite one in this series. The others aren't as endearing. This one is so endearing it is off the chart.

My 5 year old loves these. She's reading at about a 1st grade level and these books are easy to read and look like her big sister's graphic novels. Great motivation.
