This six AA battery holder was exactly what I needed to power the headlights and off road lights on my modified Tamiya Clod Buster R/C truck. Those lights all need 7.2 Volts of power, which is exactly what six NiCd AA batteries will provide when connected together in series. This battery holder fit just perfectly under the truck bed and I secured it in place with strips of double sided foam tape, commonly referred to as "servo tape" in the R/C hobby.
The built-in power switch was a major factor in me buying this battery holder compared to other models on the market. It was so nice to not have to buy a separate on-off switch and then have to mount it somewhere on my truck's body.
I wish that the screw to lock the cover in place was included but since it was not shown in the photos on Amazon, that was not a surprise. It is not a big deal to me as the black plastic cover locks in place very securely without the screw but it just would have been nice to have the screw included in the package.
Speaking of the cover, my only small complaint about this battery holder is that the cover can be a little difficult to remove. The "bars" molded into the cover in a triangle shape are not very pronounced and thus are a little difficult to grip with my thumb or finger when sliding off the cover. I have to put my thumbnail on the edge of the cover and then use that to slide the cover off. It is not a big deal but I have not had this same problem with any of the other AA battery holders that I have used over the years. If the top surface of the cover had a rougher texture, that would make removing the cover much easier. That is really not a big deal to me as I have found my own technique of removing the cover that works just fine. I am thankful that the cover does fit on very tightly though as that prevents it from coming off when I am operating my truck.
I am very happy with this AA battery holder and it works perfectly well for my truck. Now I can take it out in the dark and see everything that is in front of it.
