ORIGINAL REVIEW for the light blue long sleeve rashguard (originally purchased): Love this! Love the color and the color of the stitching also, so I can match with a couple different swim trunks. I ordered XL/24 months for my 12 month old (24lbs, 30" tall) and it fits a little big and the sleeves are a little long but I wanted it bigger so it can last him the rest of the summer. Seems well made and he was comfortable in it, and I love how it protects him from the sun! Just ordered another in a different color. :)
make the shirt about an inch longer. It does comes to his waist and is ok. 3T is our normal clothes size.
I have two girls who wear 18 month clothes and 3t or 4t so I purchased this shirt in 3 sizes (24 month, 3t, and 4t). My 2.5 year old wears 3t in normal clothes and this shirt it super loose and baggy. This might be the difference between how girls' clothes and boys' clothes fit (since this is unisex), but I expected that a rash guard would be snug like cotton pajamas fit, so I got the bigger size too. Other than the sleeves being a little short, she actually fits in the 24 month size. For a day at the beach, it's safe to get your normal size, but if you want to use it in the pool, you might want to size down (said no mom ever). But seriously, it would be hard to swim in.
If you want to compare. I laid a 4t Carter's long sleeve pajama top on top of the 3t rash guard. The length of the sleeves and the body are the same, but the body of the rash guard is about 3/4" wider on either side and the sleeves are about an inch wider.
