Mario R. Storchi was born in Portici (Naples), Italy.

Graduated with honors in Literature, he worked for several years at the Chair of Contemporary History, University of Naples, publishing numerous essays and books of social and economic history, working on unpublished sources in the State Archives of Naples.

For almost thirty years he taught in high schools.

The interest for historical research and teaching led him from the early 80s to use the computer and the Internet, taking courses in high schools to explain to students and professors Internet and new technologies (including e-learning and distance learning) and writing computer books.

He has written over twenty books, some of which have had numerous editions and reprints.

Un lavoro certamente interessante che ci descrive come era la vita di "quando si stava meglio". Ho però rilevato un difetto di impostazione, l'autore descrive essenzialmente lo stato del sud Italia, scarsi sono le descrizioni precise dei quanto accadeva al Nord e al Centro. Premesso che la descrizione della vita per categorie può essere simile in tutta italia, la composizione sociale è molto diversa, specialmente per l'agricoltura dove al nord prevale la mezzadria, mentre al sud prevale il latifondo, e per la struttura ospedaliera.
