I grew up with my Mom making the best Stroganoff in the world.......and hers is still the best. But not far away is this Mountain House Stroganoff. I prefer beef over chicken (it always rehydrates better in my opinion and you don't get any non-hydrated crunchiness) and I always prefer noodles over rice. This meal met both of my preferred criteria when selecting a backcountry meal. The noodles are the right size to not hang over your spoon and make a mess. The flavor is really good, seriously as good as you can find in a restaurant. The serving size is super filling and you may even find yourself unable to finish the whole pouch. The appearance was pretty appetizing as well (If you've eaten a lot of pouch meals you know that there are some pretty iffy-looking meals out there. Some of the MH recipes call for too much water and you have a little soupiness, but this one is right on the money. Do yourself a favor and give this recipe a shot on your next trip. I gave a few bites to my fellow backpackers and they liked mine a lot more than theirs (MRE Spaghetti and MH Red Beans & Rice). A good value for the great flavor, ingredients that fit in a spoon and a plentiful serving size. I highly suggest this Recipe for your next trip!
