By the time I was just a few minute into this pilot I was getting mad at myself. I was thinking, "As many times as this actor has given unforgettable performances that either broke my heart or made me laugh till I hurt, why haven't I ever bothered to learn his name!?" Well, with deep apologies to Giovanni Ribisi, I swear that's not going to happen again. The last few seconds of this pilot in which Ribisi and Margo Martindale exchange a few words and a couple of 12-gauge glances, hit like electricity, and now I'm writing this review just to dissipate some of the anxiety from not being able to watch the next episode! Hurry up already, Amazon! And look at this cast! Even the guest stars are Debra Monk and Domenick Lombardozzi for crying out loud. But look, both Ribisi and Martindale have been in some stinker television productions, which is evidence that great actors can't always save crappy writing. The writer/producer of Sneaky Pete, David Shore, has given them some great stuff to work with and created a terrific balance of taught drama, comic relief and even action. This is good stuff.
