Customer Review

Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2018
This is a highly readable, interesting account that mixes geography and history. Too often historians seem to discount or neglect the importance of the physical environment in shaping how people lived and societies developed. This is a refreshing correction. Because it is so accessible, I would recommend it for anyone living on one of America's major waterways who is interested in history.
