Two older brothers seems to bring out a competitive streak in a little sister. The struggle to win, to climb as high and as fast, and to hold one's own in a fight requires even more determination and grit than for males. But for Kiva it is all part of her dream to break the sex barrier and become a windwalker. This is a great story, capturing the rapture of flying, the loneliness of a trailblazer, and the courage of women who defy traditional roles. I loved how well the scenery is pictured, the inner struggles of the bonding experience, and how realistic the climbing and flying is. It has romance, danger, with suspense and great world building.
