Before I learned more about Vega, I was totally hooked on their products! I LOVE the taste of Vega One and I also love Vega Sport. However, I recently learned that their products have failed testing (ConsumerLab; LabDoor; third party testers) for HEAVY METAL content. Specifically, Vega One failed for cadmium and lead; Vega Sport failed for lead. Also, their products are much higher in sodium than the label claims, and they are lower in vitamin and mineral content than the label claims (LabDoor). Vega Sport was also found to have around 24-25 g protein per serving, versus the 30 g that is promised by the label. I am very disappointed in Vega -- Vega has always been my favorite protein source and I always looked forward to that post-run/post-lift smoothie or overnight protein oats. But how can I ignore the possibility of metal poisoning? Especially considering that since I have begun taking this regularly, I have experienced much difficulty breathing and my lungs feel like I have pneumonia sometimes; I also have experienced increased BP and joint pain.
