This is a great ladder! I live in a small apartment in the city with high ceilings - which means I have 1)very little space, 2)fantastic, but very high storage spaces, and 3)no car. I needed a lightweight ladder that would reach up to those storage spaces - I'm short (5'2"). I can easily carry the ladder (label says it is 12.5lbs) with one hand and it folds very flat, making easy to store. And with free shipping, I did not have to worry about getting the ladder home from the store.

When opened, the top of the black step is 45" from the ground (my measurement). The orange piece at the top has a nice tray for nails, etc. To close the ladder, pull on the handle tab of the black step. The ladder is well made and I feel secure as I'm moving luggage up and down it. The only watch-out I have for this ladder (which goes for any ladder) is to be careful where you put your fingers as you close the it. I caught my fingers once, and ouch! I mention this not as a defect of this ladder - which I love - but as something that will probably happen to most of us.
