After drifting through the mine field of small college america, we find ourselves floating along the river of life with William, a middle aged English professor. The life raft includes a bevy of dysfunctional academics intent on surviving their errant ways. Of course William clever and astute in a dumb academic way that gets to work its way into our heads. But do we really care about this guy? In the end Russo gets philosophical and gets to pull you into William's world where Grace is rendered by his wife Lily. That is the crux of the plot - how does William slide gracefully into middle age? It's worth finding out.
