I downloaded this book because we had a family reunion on Folly Beach one summer, not too many years ago. I remember a beautiful beach and walking to the pier that reached out into the Atlantic. I also like a good mystery, which this sounded like it would be. It turned out to be an enjoyable read, with some predictable parts, but some surprises as well. Having grown up with parents who loved the big bands of the 40's, I happily heard some of the old songs in my head when the were mentioned in the story. The book was well-written and "comfortable," if that makes sense. It was easy to read and kept my attention, but not the way a thriller does. I found the history fascinating, too, as explained in the Author's Note. A worthwhile read.
