1. It took over 48 hours for the Gift card to be processed and able to be used (where is this mentioned on ordering) 2. When my friend typed in the code he received via email, it said the code had already been used. 3. I then contacted Amazon as the picture and they disclosed that the code had been used by the unidentifiable email address - not one I or my friend recognized. 4. Amazon then said they could un-redeem the voucher as the picture shows. 5. The voucher was not un-redeemed (as they said they would) and I contacted Amazon again to ask what was happening, and they said that there was a fault with the gift card (at there end) and that they would instead be giving me a refund for my purchase and to order another gift card that would take another 48 hours to process if I wanted one.
Throughout this whole process, never once was I contacted by Amazon. I had to make the effort. If I had not reached out, they were happy to take the money without providing the service I had paid for.
This whole process took over 14 days. Not ideal for a Birthday present.
Finally, when writing to Amazon to tell them about my experience they said that there is no internal complaints team to deal with the issue and that there is nothing more that they can do other than to try to do better next time. Empty words if you ask me.
