My newly turned 3 year old absolutely adores this book and requests to read it multiple times every night. This is the first hardcover book I've bought my son and I was initially worried he'd have it destroyed by the end of the first night (he eagerly and roughly turns pages). Fortunately, the pages are durable and have a glossy/laminated feel to them. He has definitely bent and/or creased MANY pages after dozens of read throughs, but not a single page has actually ripped.
The story itself is very simple and repetitive, but these are great qualities in a children's book. Pete's button song is so catchy and fun, I find myself singing it to my toddler randomly throughout the day. Best of all, there's not a lot of text on each page, which is great for little ones who don't have much of an attention span. It's worth noting the illustrations are bold, adorable, and definitely unique to the Pete the Cat series.
My son is 3 years old and is obsessed with this book, but I feel like he would have enjoyed it just as much at 2 or 2.5 years old. So don't be put off by the "4-7 year old" age range listed on this product page.
