I recently got my hands on a high-end MSI mainboard and a i7 960 processor. I know they're old, but despite their elderly nature, I was looking to build a back-up PC for use by my kids for school and they're more than serviceable for such a purpose.
Problem was, the aged power supply that was in the case I was looking to use lacked the proper connectors to plug into the main board. I needed a replacement and I was looking for one that had 2 pci-e connectors specifically, and also had the mainboard plugs I needed.
This PSU fit the bill. It's not the most efficient, but it provides 500 watts of power, has all the above connectors and was priced at where I needed to spend. The 500 watts are more than enough headroom for my older cpu and the R9 270X GPU it also has to power.
Since then, the computer hasn't had an issue. The PSU is quiet and does its job without notice. You really can't ask for much more than that.
