Bought DAO 7 years ago and played it on my old computer at the lowest game resolution (800x600: desktop from 10+ years ago, single chip Pentium with no graphics card and Windows 7.) 7 years ago, the links supplied with the game still worked; you need a (free) Origin account to activate the DLCs and updates. Bought a new ($650) Skytech gaming computer and a new copy of DAO Ultimate Addition for it. Original version of DAO loaded with the disks, but without more recent patches; EA's Origin (name is a coincidence) website accepted game codes supplied with the game and ultimate addition was enabled and updated. The game is great, and looks and plays great on high resolution (1920x1080) on my new computer: with the high resolution, I can look up and see the moon now, can see the moon reflected in a pond, can see shadows, see the flowers, see the tree species . . . the graphics just stun compared to low resolution. The landscapes are visually pleasing, the writing in the story is good, and the voice acting is good; when I wander through the Dragon Age Origins world, the computer and screen don't exist: it's a meditation.
