I loved this book. It is only about 120 pages long and is based on a true story of a boy born in the Sudan. He is 11 years old when the book starts out. Because of the politics in his country and his status in life, he has a very hard beginning. Another lesser protagonist, a girl, has an even worse situation than his. She also is 11 and her story starts in 2008 when his starts in 1985. Not so long ago right? Very interesting and frightening things happen in these children lives, particularly his. But she travels twice a day walking to a muddy pond to acquire water for her family........every day it takes a total of 8 hours a day for these walks. She balances her container on her head as she takes it home. A must read for everyone, especially those who have it easy in life and those young people who complain about everything. The ending is awe inspiring!
