I purchased this for a friend who's ethernet port on his iMac failed. This adapter is truly plug & play. I plugged the ethernet cable into the adapter and the adapter into an available USB port and it showed up in the Network System Preferences. He has had no problems with the adapter since installation (a few weeks ago)
