I don’t understand what was so great about this book, the whole thing was kind of corny to me. Clearly it got the recognition it did bc it was about a prevalent topic over these past few years in the media but idk I thought the language was corny and tried too hard to be contemporary and I didn’t like how the main character Starr went about things like creating her OWN divide among races with her boyfriend and saying things like “Garden Heights is ghetto but only i can call it ghetto” give me a break. Typical double standards and things that only keep us more divided.
