Strange book. First 1/3 is Rudy's story about a stranger showing with a child that she says belongs to Rudy's brother who is supposedly missing in WW 1 France. It is tough following the story. The remainder of the book contains chapters by the characters themselves. It reads like the author started over. Confusing. The story is interesting and character development is good. If you make it through the first 37%, it gets better.
