The Mountain House Chicken & Dumplings Freeze Dried Backpacking/Camping Meals is a great lightweight meal to take on the go. The meal is easy to make - simply add 1 1/3 cup of boiling water, stir, seal, then let sit for 10 minutes with another stir about 5 minutes in. The resulting meal is similar to frozen chicken pot pie filling. It’s savory and tasty without being overly creamy or salty, and the meal is large enough for 1 to 2 people, depending on how much they eat. Each package is 600 calories and the ingredients are good. For those who live in earthquake country like I do, these are really great to use as emergency food to keep on hand. Each package can last a LONG time - my bag doesn’t expire until November 2049, so when the big one hits, all I need to have access to is hot water and I’ll have a hot meal that’s ready to go. Overall great item to have on hand when backpacking, camping, or for disaster emergency boxes.
