The narrator, Lara Jean, is a complete contradiction. Parts sound like they are voiced by a middle schooler, but then she goes on to use words like sartorial and make pretentious pseudo-philosophical statements. Literally no one in high school talks like this. The writing style is so aggravating and cloying that I just can't keep reading it. Nothing in this story is provoking any emotions at all, just numbness and distaste. I don't think I've ever returned a book so quickly.
