Matt de la Pena and Christian Robinson CRUSHED IT with this one. The story is so incredibly well written (there's a reason it won the Newbery Medal) and the illustrations bolster those words and put them on a new plane. This is a simple, yet evocative story between a boy and his wise grandmother as they ride a bus and explore the world's beauty amidst its grime. Recommended.
