The 3 main characters are sisters: Dr. Laura Hadstrom, a professor, Emily, a very talented chef who wants her own restaurant, currently working in 1, Nickie, a very talented musician/singer who is the Queen of the Blues in Austin, TX where they live. Their parents are divorced but at a graduation, give each of the sisters family rings & tell them the legacy their family is guarding. Unfortunately, the day before they hear the story, Laura, who is a historian & interested in digging out mysterious sites, has overcome the 'wards' protecting a prison holding a Goraflex. Now the story revolves around recapturing the Goraflex, who is looking for a host to accommodate it plus killing witches for their blood power. By the end of the book, each sister has a BF, has been in some scary situations, the witch powers in Austin have been disrupted. And, there are other magical folks: tree elves, mechanics, wizards, a soothsayer, fairies & Gaspars. Hard story to report on. The characters are likeable. Any dog lover would love an immortal dog :-) The sisters live in a magical, flexible house that can accommodate alltheir needs & storage space. There's a twist at the end of the books & a satisfying ending. The end is clear by the final book...no cliff hanger ending.
