This book is a long way from your typical Jack Reacher novel. The plot drags in places. There is less action and Reacher is a little more introspective than we are accustomed to. Ignore this one unless you are a dyed in the wool Reacher fan. One complaint though, would it be asking too much for Mr Child to do his homework? He still can't get the U.S. military straight. For example, in this book a Marine Corps doctor functions as a critical plot device. However, there are no doctors in the Marine Corps. All doctors and medics serving with the Marine Corps are Navy personnel. This is perhaps a minor point but it is typical of Mr. Child's lack of research.
