What an exciting book and what a change of pace. A forced marriage that did not involve the h being vengeful. Ailis was wise beyond her years. She handled a difficult situation with grace. I will say that there was a lot of crudity which concerned me but that goes with the era in which the book is set. I did not care for all of the secondary characters and did not get the satisfaction of seeing them set down. Can't wait to read the next one in this series. Question: the hero's half brother is referred to as a bastard because he is the result of a hand fast that did not work out. From what I have read, the children of a hand fast are considered legitimate. Did the author miss that?
