I am absolutely in love with this book. My primary purpose for getting it was my son. He's a nerd, and I mean that in the best possible way. He loves all things science, and has shown a strong interest in robotics. He also likes to get creative and build/design things himself. This book will give him (us) the foundation to be able to build things from scratch and then tweak it how we want. The kits are great, but you usually have to do things their way, period. It opens with a fantastic list of supplies, as well as online resources to acquire things. Let's face it: for most of us, this sort of endeavor can be a bit intimidating at first. This makes it very accessible. It also presents the hows and whys, along with safety tips for anything that might cause you issue. I also an so excited to use this with my Girl Scout troop. I am the co-leader, and since I'm a science nerd, I end up running most of the STEM badgework we do. Robotics has been a bit push in the past several years, and we'd like to do some with our girls. Unfortunately, the kits are cost-prohibitive for a troop of 14 girls. I think this will give me what I need to get them into robotics!
