I wanted to give less stars but here’s why I didn’t. I could argue like others that getting justice is never really served in outcomes like this. Like the ending in Queen & Slim. Why is it that it never happens? Why is it that the language is never spoken back? Typically I think about cultural nature. But here, instead of calling the writers scared or weak, I’d tend to think that it’s proving my point more so. Is there ever really justice? Can “showing the world” really change things? Will armed people, altogether stop and think with a clean heart before they take someone’s life? No. Has it ever? No. Everything gets recorded nowadays and all it does is proves points that have been screamed from bleeding hearts forever. Does this review sound hopeful? No. It doesn’t. American Skin is drenched in, No.
