One of the few "non-Western" novels from Louis L'Amour, but well worth the read. Set in Cold War Soviet Union (so may not be so relatable to our millennials and youth), this story is all out L'Amour. His descriptions of the outdoor expanse of Siberia and the people who live are tremendous. His protagonist is the man we (L'Amour fans) all wish we could're with him every step of the way.

Maybe a bit meandering in small measure and a touch lengthy in the subplots; the introductory tie-in and thought provoking ending make it all worth while.
