We just travelled to northern Botswana for two weeks, and were enthralled by the animals. So it was fascinating to read about it in the 70's. We were on travel safaris, and I applaud their efforts surveying the animals, scientifically and thoroughly 40 years ago, when it was truly wilderness.. Having just seen and learned about the wildlife populations first hand, it was interesting to learn more jackals , hyenas and lions who are all stunning. In the end, i knew nothing about the destructive fences that were strangling the wildlife populations. I was happy to read how the Owens fought successfully for removing the fences. Both Mark and Delia Owens wrote chapters, and while the writing styles were individual, the book reads cohesively. It is a terrific story.
