I devoured this book. I loved Barbara Demick's book Nothing to Envy, but I think Eat the Buddha might be even better -- she brings alive the plight of Tibetans in China in a very human way. There's a princess and a poor little boy, a guy who looks like Elvis and a former monk. Their intersecting lives show how China has tried -- and succeeded -- in subjugating Tibetans, particularly over the past 12 years. A must-read.
