Tried to send M-in-L a gift for her 70th birthday, she lives in Canada, and I in the USA. At no point did Amazon warn me that you need to use a different version of their domain name for each country you want to send a gift to. I mean there's no good reason Amazon can't either auto route the gift, or ask what country and redirect to the correct URL. Instead she can only buy product in the USA while living in Canada with the gift card purchased in the USA. Well that's real helpful. I did find information on the gift card help page warning about it, but serious who goes to the help page first, before just ordering a gift card. Stupid, purchase flow Amazon, stupid. Oh and you can't refund a gift card, nor use a gift card to pay for another gift card, so now all that money is held up in limbo. Is my frustration with international Amazon gift cards coming through? Recommendation, either read the gift card page thoroughly before purchasing an international card, or avoid it and pick a better method to gift your friends and family.
