I'm actually about to return this lamp. I read all the reviews I could on it, and thought it would be great to have something both functional and cool looking. However, in practice this didn't suit my needs at all. I'm trying to light up a relatively large living/TV room and was hoping this could throw enough light across at least half of it. While it does indeed look like a curious lamp, it simply didn't produce enough light for me. Also, the color temperature of the light is very white which gave my room a colder, sterile feeling. Not too mention the twistiness of it introduces some slight shadows that may be nice for ambience, but not as a primary light source.
The foot switch seemed to work well, but I wish this had an actual dimmer so I could set the brightness. Also, it would be great if I could change the color temperature to something warmer. It wasn't as tall as I expected but that's my fault for not breaking out the measuring tape after reading the description. Though this is described as a floor lamp, in reality it's more of an end table lamp or a decorative light.
Another thing to note is the value. I paid about $70 for this lamp, but had it been $30 I probably would have kept it anyways. I don't feel the plastic construction and small base warrant such a price, so buyer beware you're paying a premium for a "conversation piece"
