I love the story! My big girls love it, too! The vocabulary has some nice variety. The story is creative and imaginative without being hokey or too fake. The characters are very human and easy to relate to from their various perspectives.
Best of the series!!! BY FAR THE BEST! Skip the next 3. They're not as good!
I read the next 3 books in the series and didn't like any of them as well as Goose Girl. Enna Burning and River ?. I started the Forest ? And didn't bother to finish it. (I forget the full titles at the moment). Books 2 and 3 were a little intense and gross with burned bodies all over the story. In the other books, the author also threw in a few sexual references I though were unnecessary. One where a girl grabs a boy from behind and he is intrigued and uncomfortable with her breasts pressed against his back. The other were she climbs in his lap and is pretty aggressive about trying to get his attention. The story was fine without adding sexually aggressive females. It seemed like an attempt to repeak the readers interest in a dragging story.
