I would have given this book a higher rating, but the writer insisted on including long lists of long gone individuals that were involved in the over production of American dams and hydro electric projects that were built to irrigate and power the great American west. The list of names, legislation, end events could have been included in an appendix with the story presented in a net fashion..

An extrapolation of this fight for water and water rights can be found in the novel "The Water Knife" by Paolo Bacgalupi. The fight for water in the western portion of the US that has been a desert since the end of the last ice age..
