Mission Impossible 2 took the franchise to a new level with its plot, style and action. MI3 continued to develop the series. The theme of the movie was redemption for Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) as he initially failed to bring down an international arms dealer named Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman).

The start would become a new mainstay. Hunt was sent on a mission to extract an Impossible Mission Force (IMF) agent Lindsey Farris (Keri Russell) who was captured by Davian leading to a big action scene. You would see a similar opening in all the following Mission Impossibles.

The writers did a good job with story always having Davian being one step ahead of Hunt leading to more and more frustration on his part. Of course there would be plenty of gadgets and action along the way.

The Mission Impossible franchise really needs to be commended for one, not becoming stale and routine, and instead getting better with each new movie.
